Snakes...again

I can't remember if the count was 4 or 5 (too damn many either way if you ask me) Anyway I think I forgot to tell ya about the one while we were pulling up the shrubs across the front. I had started and then Aaron came out - next thing I know he has it on the end of his shovel. It was not a grass snake - different kind of head, maybe a bull snake - personally I didn't spend much time looking. So there's that one and then I just let FatMan, our huge cat Linus inside, but before he was ready to actually come in the door he had to alert me to the snake on the backporch! How sweet of him. Most of these snakes are under a foot long - which creeps me out more cause that means that they are just babies and there's gotta be a momma and nest somewhere..??? As I mihgt have mentioned before I hate snakes. I know that may sound like a strong statement but really I don't care for them. :)

Other news my sweet little 10 month old can not only get out of the stroller harness, turn around, stand up and look at you so innocently - she can do the same in the grocery cart. Active little monkey :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend. We are carving pumpkins with Tom, Kristi, and Hayden and then watching the game and eating fajitas!! I'm sure I will have pictures to share.

Everyone tells me - just wait until she's walking! I can't believe what all Emily can get into just crawling. If you check out her blog you will see e-m-s-pics.blogspot.com She's learned to step on the pillow to get on the ottoman and once there she can sit or crawl over to the couch. Very clever girl and very proud of herself. Then she's discovered the pots and pans. And while we were eating dinner last night she climbed under Daddy's chair. She's done all this on her own with no prompting from us. Crazy kid!
Not too much else going on around here. Getting ready for Halloween. Need to finish up Emily's costume. She is going to be Pebbles. I have some black felt to cut and put on a pink shirt. Finally found a bone for her hair.

I cant believe that another week has gone by........and I didnt blog once. Last weekend was DFW and the fair. When we woke up Sunday morning Emily had the sniffles, which didnt surprise me because we had been around new kids. She seems to be in that phase of everytime we see someone new she gets sick. I hope her little immune system gets going soon! Anyway she would wake up a little snotty, but by mid-morning it was gone. I think it was Tuesday night that she woke up screaming with a fever. We finally got her back to bed and a saw the dr the next day. She said it was probably just a cold, but if the temp got over 102.3 to come back. Well she woke up from her nap screaming and her temp was 102.5 - so off to the dr office we go. Apparently they dont just give antibiotics anymore.....you must have blood and urine samples. The blood was a hard one for mommy to watch -- ok I didnt watch Aaron did. and as for urine Emily wasnt interested. They gave us a bag that tapes around down there. She pooped on the first and the next two leaked. Anyway....no antibiotics. Finally Thursday morning after sitting in the doctors office for 3 hrs...trying to get a urine sample they gave her a shot of antibiotics (cause by protocal her bloodwork alone says she needed one AAHHHH!) I must say this wasnt our normal doctor, but still one in the same practice. I thought Emily would sleep the rest of the afternoon but No! She had another high fever that night and was hurting. Finally after a few hours we got her to bed. She didnt sleep well poor thing. Friday morning she was feeling much better though. She is still snotty but no fever. I know she needs to see other kids - but its hard to do when you know whats coming.

Anyway that was our week. Friday night we went to Tom and Kristis house. Tom cooked a chicken, two different kinds of sausage, and a ribeye. All had a cajun seasoning -- very good stuff! I made the sherbet slide again...but with alot less rum. Very relaxing evening. Sat we watched most of the game - until the $#!@$@$@ DVR cut it off. and today we are making the Mexican drink Horchata - which I hope turns out. Horchata is like my Starbucks. A large is $2.45 and Id be happy to have one everyday :)

OK if you havent noticed my apostrophe button doesnt work. Everytime I press it something crazy pops up on the screen. Maybe I should look into that.
Well I hope everyone has a great week. :)

Rain drops keep falling on my head.....
If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gum drops....
AAHHH the rain.... We've had close to 10 inches this weekend! I love rain, still in my pjs, the house is that perfect temp, oh how wonderful a nap sounds, listening to the rain..................yeah right! Emily says no to a nap today. She slept a little this morning but has been crawling around all afternoon.
We had a great weekend. Saw old friends in DFW, even got to the State Fair. Finally I tried the fried oreo. I loved the cookie part, but not the batter. However Riley had the opposite opinion. The corn dogs were awesome as was the cotton candy and funnel cake. Emily enjoyed little bits of all. She is really alert and interested in what everyone is eating.
Hope everyone has a great week!

After being tagged I've thought of many weird things about myself. One is
I LOVE yard work. This weekend we pulled up the bushes across the front. So excited, not only does it look better, but I got to use a rope and my Jeep to do it!!! Before I could get the flowers I wanted to plant my husband turned the dirt into a graveyard for Halloween. Looks pretty cool - I will try to remember to take a pic. But I need to get the flowers soon - the garden place has them 70% off --- and you know I can't pass up a deal like that!
Another weird thing - I love stale oreo cookies - not fresh and crunchy - stale and a little soggy----hhhhhmmmm!
I like icecream best in the winter - milk products on hot days just doesn't do it for me.
Things you just didn't know about me huh?

This past weekend we had a great time at Tom and Kristi's. Emily fell asleep and the adults enjoyed adult beverages - possibly a few too many, but probably not! We mixed orange sherbet, sprite, and spiced rum, and few ice cubes because I left the sherbet out too long. and too be honest....not much sprite. YUMMY!

Sat we dropped the camper off to get the hot water heater fixed, and the bearings checked. They also found we needed a new crank or something - which is covered by warranty. The water heater is turning out to be a little pricey - but no point in having the camper if it doesn't work. I'm very tired of the the cold showers - now not to the point I will go to the public shower...too much effort involved in gathering soap, shampoo, towels, clothes etc...just to the point where I may just shower when I get home. I'm camping right? no need to be too clean :)
Anyway hopefully the camper will be finished this week and we can make another trip soon.

Angie and Jim have been posting their wieght. I'm with you guys. This past week has been a gain of 5. Not too happy about that. I did take about a month off from the gym and this past weekend we had hotdogs, mexican food, sausage, beer, pie -- oooo what a weekend it was! So as you can tell I'm not much of "diet-er" I'm getting back into the routine of going to the gym atleast twice a week and walking Allie atleast twice a week. Hopefully the number will start heading in the other direction soon. Goal was 10lbs, now 15lbs . Would love to make that 20 /25 but will see how things are when we get to the first goal.

One day, while walking to the store, I passed by a nursing home. On
>> the front lawn were six old ladies lying naked on the grass. I
>> thought this was a bit unusual, but continued on my way to the store.
>>
>> On my return trip, I passed the same nursing home with the same six
>> old ladies lying naked on the lawn.
>> This time my curiosity got the best of me and I went inside to talk to
>> the manager.
>>
>> "Do you know there are six ladies lying naked on your front lawn?"
>> "Yes," he said. "They're retired prostitutes and they're having a yard
>> sale."
